Banksia Robur 200mm
Banksia robur, commonly known as Swamp Banksia, is a striking Australian native shrub renowned for its bold foliage and impressive cylindrical flower spikes. Its large, leathery green leaves feature distinctive toothed edges, creating a lush and architectural appearance in the garden.
The spectacular flower spikes emerge in shades of green before developing into beautiful golden-brown tones as they mature. Rich in nectar, the flowers are highly attractive to native birds, bees and other beneficial pollinators, making Banksia robur an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens.
Naturally suited to moist conditions, this hardy Banksia is ideal for damp or poorly drained areas where many other Australian natives may struggle. It performs beautifully in native gardens, coastal landscapes, larger garden beds and as an eye-catching feature plant.
Plant in full sun to part shade and provide regular moisture, particularly while the plant is establishing.
Tip: Unlike many Banksias that demand excellent drainage, Banksia robur naturally grows in swampy environments and is an excellent choice for those persistently damp areas of the garden. If feeding, always use a low-phosphorus fertiliser formulated for Australian native plants.
