Gordonia Axillaris 200mm
Gordonia axillaris, commonly known as Fried Egg Tree, is a magnificent evergreen tree renowned for its large, fragrant white flowers with bright golden-yellow centres that resemble a freshly cooked fried egg. Flowering from late summer through autumn, its beautiful blooms stand out against the glossy, deep green foliage, creating a stunning display when many other trees have finished flowering. With its neat, upright habit and year-round foliage, Gordonia axillaris is an exceptional feature tree for gardens, avenues and larger landscapes.
Growing to around 6–10 metres tall, this elegant tree thrives in full sun to part shade and prefers rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture while establishing. It is well suited to Australian gardens in temperate and subtropical climates and is valued for its attractive shape, glossy foliage and spectacular floral display.
Tip: Plant Gordonia axillaris in a sheltered position with protection from strong winds to help preserve its beautiful blooms. Apply mulch around the base to keep the roots cool and retain soil moisture, and feed with a slow-release fertiliser in spring to encourage healthy growth and abundant flowering each year.
