Feijoa Sellowiana 140
Feijoa sellowiana ‘Pineapple Guava’ is an attractive evergreen shrub or small tree, loved for its beautiful silvery-green foliage, striking flowers and delicious edible fruit. The fragrant green fruit has a sweet, tropical flavour often described as a combination of pineapple, guava and strawberry.
Hardy and versatile, Pineapple Guava makes an excellent feature plant, informal hedge or screening plant. It performs best in a sunny position with well-drained soil and, once established, has good tolerance to dry conditions and coastal environments.
Height: Approximately 3–5m, but responds well to pruning
Position: Full sun to part shade
Flowers: Attractive red and white blooms
Fruit: Sweet, fragrant and edible
Uses: Feature tree, screening, hedging and edible gardens
Tip: For the best fruit production, plant two different Feijoa varieties nearby to encourage cross-pollination. Keep plants well watered during flowering and while the fruit is developing for a healthy, juicy crop.
