Kaffir Lime trees are predominantly grown and used for their lovely, aromatic leaves which are used to flavour a variety of different cuisines. The tree is a pretty dense and compact grower with a distinct, double-lobed leaf. The fruit itself is small-ish and has a wrinkly appearance that makes it looks almost like a little green brain. While it has very little juice content, the fruit’s skin can still be used for its zest .When chopped or crushed, the leaf expels a wonderful aromatic citrus flavour that characterises many Asian dishes including green chicken curry. Kaffir Limes are a relatively small growing tree, even the full-size form can live happily in a pot, though they can definitely go directly in the ground. Regular pruning and picking of the leaves will keep the tree compact and encourage more growth.
