Tulbaghia Variegated, commonly known as Variegated Society Garlic, is a tough yet elegant perennial that brings both foliage interest and delicate blooms to the garden. Its slender, strappy leaves are beautifully striped in soft green and creamy white, creating brightness and contrast all year round.
From spring through summer, clusters of dainty lilac-purple starry flowers rise above the foliage, adding a gentle pop of colour while attracting bees and beneficial insects. When brushed, the leaves release a light garlic scent — helping deter pests naturally.
Reaching around 40–60cm high, this hardy plant is perfect for borders, cottage gardens, mass plantings, pots or edging pathways.
Tip: Plant in full sun for best flowering and ensure good drainage. Once established, Tulbaghia thrives on minimal water. Remove spent flower stems to encourage repeat blooming and divide clumps every few years to keep plants vigorous and full.
