🍋 No Backyard? No Problem – Grow Citrus in Pots!

Think you need a big yard to grow lemons? Think again. With the right setup, you can enjoy a lush, fruiting citrus tree on a balcony, patio or small courtyard.

🌿 Start with a Dwarf Variety

Choose compact options like Dwarf Eureka or Dwarf Meyer. They stay manageable in size but still produce full-size, juicy fruit.

🪴 Use the Right Pot & Mix

Select a pot at least 400mm wide with good drainage. Plant into a premium mix like Searles Fruit, Citrus & Rose Specialty Mix to give roots the airflow, moisture balance and nutrients they need.

☀️ Give It Sun

Citrus love sunshine — aim for 6+ hours of direct sun daily for best flowering and fruiting.

💧 Feed & Water Well

Feed regularly with Searles Seamax Organic Liquid Fertiliser to support strong growth and abundant fruit. Water deeply, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between watering. Finish with a layer of sugar cane mulch to retain moisture (keep it away from the trunk).

🌼 Extra Tips

Rotate the pot for even growth and protect from strong winter winds. On enclosed balconies, gentle hand pollination can improve fruit set.

With sunshine, quality soil and regular feeding, even the smallest space can become your own citrus oasis 🍋
